ANGELINA COUNTY & CITIES HEALTH DISTRICT BRINGS NATIONAL INFECTION CONTROL TRAINING TO EAST TEXAS
One of Only 15 Health Departments in the Nation Selected for Project Firstline
The Angelina County & Cities Health District (ACCHD) was proudly selected as one of only 15 local health departments nationwide, and just one of two in Texas, to receive grant funding through Project Firstline, a national infection control initiative from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). This pilot program will run between April-August of 2025, and we thank all of the community members who choose to participate.
This opportunity brings CDC-backed infection control education directly to East Texas. With this funding, ACCHD can offer free, on-site training and resources to local healthcare facilities, helping nurses, CNAs, environmental services staff, and other frontline workers to strengthen their infection prevention knowledge and practices. We're also making that knowledge available publicly through the following presentations. All local healthcare facilities are free to access this information whenever needed.
WHY IT MATTERS
Infection control isn’t just for big hospitals. Whether it’s a clinic, long-term care center, dental office, or community health program, every healthcare setting plays a role in keeping patients and staff safe. Project Firstline offers clear, accessible training that fits into the day-to-day work of healthcare workers - no long seminars or complex jargon, just practical tools that make a real difference.
ACCHD's selection for Project Firstline speaks to the strength and dedication of our health district and community. We are proud to be recognized on a national level and are even more excited to bring these trainings home to the healthcare workers who serve our community every day.
GET INVOLVED
Facilities that participate in trainings will gain early access to CDC-approved resources and have the opportunity to strengthen infection control practices with hands-on support from public health professionals.
ABOUT PROJECT FIRSTLINE
Project Firstline is a national training collaborative developed by the CDC to ensure every healthcare worker, regardless of their role or background, has the knowledge and confidence to apply infection control principles and protect their patients, their coworkers, and themselves.
