Angelina County & Cities Health District knows that living your best life starts with positive mental help. That’s why we offer counseling services to adults, adolescents and children dealing with mental illnesses and emotional disturbances.
Through these services, a clinician establishes a professional plan of care with the client and then utilizes therapeutic interventions through one of the following methods:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This type of talk therapy can be used in individual or family sessions and often helps participants who are dealing with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, trouble sleeping, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), substance abuse issues, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or sexual problems.
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): This type of talk therapy is often used with children who have experienced traumatic life events, including child sexual or physical abuse, as well as their non-offending parent or caregiver. The goal is to instill coping skills that help individuals process their trauma and minimize any related difficulties.
- Parent-Child Psychotherapy and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): This type of therapy is intended to treat disruptive behavior and emotional difficulties in young children.
- Family Therapy: This is a form of group therapy that focuses on improving the relationships and behaviors among family members.
- Play Therapy: This type of therapy is designed to help children process their experiences, understand emotions, manage relationships, develop coping skills and build self-esteem through play.
