Immunizations

The Children and Adult Immunization Program provides a variety of services all committed to improving the health of the children and adults of Angelina County.

The pneumonia vaccine can lower your chances getting pneumonia. People over age 65 and those with weakened immune systems should get the pneumonia vaccine. If you have heart disease, diabetes, emphysema or asthma, you may have a weakened immune system.

Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and others from the flu. Flu viruses evolve quickly, so new vaccines are released every year to keep up with the rapid changes. The Centers for Disease Control recommend a yearly flu vaccine.

The CDC recommends annual flu shots for everyone six months or older, especially pregnant women, older adults and young children. Some people may need two doses of the vaccine to be fully protected.

Protect you and your family from the flu. Contact ACCHD at (936) 633-1431 to learn more. See the CDC's weekly influenza activity estimate here.
