Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), also known as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), are passed from one person to another through sexual activity, including vaginal, oral and anal sex. They are very common and millions of new infections occur every year.

There are several different types of STIs. They don’t always cause symptoms, so it is possible to have an STI and not know it. That’s why it’s important to get tested if you are having sex. Some STIs can cause serious complications, but all of them can be treated with medicine and some can be cured.

STIs are preventable. If you are having sex, you should know how to protect yourself and your partner from STIs. We can answer any questions you have about safe sex practices.

If you are having sex, it’s important to get tested. If you need help, visit our Angelina County Connects location at 503 Hill Street, Lufkin or call (936) 633-1442.
