Notice to Permit Holders:

This announcement is to inform you of important changes to the fee schedule for permits issued by the Environmental Department of the Angelina County & Cities Health District. The Board of Health has recently approved a revised fee schedule, which will take effect on September 1, 2024.

The updated fee schedule is as follows:

  • High Risk Category: $600 per year / Inspection Frequency: Every 6 months
  • Medium Risk Category: $500 per year / Inspection Frequency: Annually
  • Low Risk Category: $400 per year / Inspection Frequency: Every 18 months

In compliance with the Texas Health and Safety Code, Section 437.012, the fee charged by a county or public health district for issuing or renewing a permit may not exceed the amount necessary to recover the county's or district's costs. Additionally, Section 437.0124 mandates that a county or public health district establish and revise a fee schedule as necessary.

The new fees will be used exclusively for conducting the required inspections and issuing permits, ensuring that all revenue is reinvested into maintaining and improving food safety standards within the district. This will also enable us to hire additional staff and better support local establishments, further strengthening our capacity to protect public health.

We understand that changes in fees can be challenging, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact our office via email at oestrada@acchd.us and nturner@acchd.us or by phone at (936) 632-9109.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and your continued commitment to food safety.
